The first question for someone desiring to become a soccer referee is, “how old are you”?
Once you have determined that you are old enough to become a referee, you must then register for either a Grade 8 or Grade 9 Entry Level class, complete the requirements and pay the appropriate registration fee for whichever class you choose. There are two possible entry classes depending upon age:
- One is the Grade 9 referee class and it is primarily for those under 14 years of age. This class qualifies a person to referee only recreational youth level games at U14 and below age levels.
- The other class is the Grade 8 Entry class for those 14 and older. It qualifies one to referee all levels of youth play, both recreational and competitive, based upon one’s age, experience, capabilities and desire. Adult Class Content
Once you complete the entry level clinic and pass the tests, your name will be distributed to all assignors in the state for game assignments.
