The first question for someone desiring to become a soccer referee is, “how old are you?”

To become certified as a grassroots referee, you must be at least 13 years old.

If you are old enough to become certified, then you should view a list of our available courses around the state.  You can see the current course listings here.

To become certified there are both online components and in-person components.  The classes listed are the webinar offerings.  Once you pick a clinic and register, you will be shown all of the information for the online requirements.  All classes will close to registrations at least 72 hours before the start of the clinic.  The online modules are required to be completed BEFORE the webinar. The online modules will take approximately 5-6 hours to complete.

Once you have completed the online learning sessions, you will attend the webinar that you registered for.  Following the webinar, you will be given information on the local, in-person field sessions.

After you have completed all requirements, you will be granted the Grassroots Referee license which permits you to officiate all youth levels in the state and amateur adult matches.  Your name and contact information will be distributed to all assignors around the state so that you can begin receiving game assignments.
